THE LORD WILL KEEP YOU
To God’s beloved Children at CLIC
As we enter the Christmas holiday season, there are many things that can overwhelm or distract us. Just as I often feel overwhelmed and distracted by the many demands of life and ministry, I know this season can bring similar feelings for many of you. However, when I meditate upon Psalm 121, my soul finds rest in the midst of restlessness, and I am once again anchored and secured in the love of God. My prayer is the same for you too.
This short Psalm of eight verses reveals God to us in a multitude of comforting roles—as our Helper, Deliverer, Maker, Protector, Carer, Sustainer, Watcher, Shield, and so much more. Each name reflects His unchanging nature and His faithful commitment to care for us in every season of life.
As your pastor, I know that some of you may be experiencing highs, feeling close to God on the mountain tops, while others might be in the valleys, wrestling with doubts about God’s goodness. This Psalm reminds us of God’s constant presence in both our challenges and our celebrations. It assures you, as His beloved children, that God is not a distant observer but an active participant in your lives. He is the One who prevents your feet from slipping, shields you day and night, and watches over your every move. Remember, God is faithful even when we are faithless.
Let this assurance fill your hearts this season as you celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, who came to us, dwelled among us, and now lives in us through His Spirit.
I shall end this short note of encouragement with a prayer of blessings for you based entirely on Psalm 121:7-8
“The LORD will keep you from all evil; He will keep your life. The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.”
I love you with the love of Christ. For those who are traveling, have fun and stay safe in the Lord
In Christ,
Kenny
Psalm 121 (ESV)
1 I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?
2 My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber.
4 Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade on your right hand.
6 The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.
7 The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life.
8 The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.
